Oct 2001
Dear readers,
Recently discovered a remonstrative phrase sprayed years ago on the walls of a derelict factory in my neighbourhood: "Der Krieg ist kein Gesetz der Natur" (War is no law of nature), and went to a lovely wedding in an old castle in the Spreewald.
(Well, there is a slight connection) Here, as summer ends and the world prepares its war machines, I find myself sitting in a spanish cafe drinking wine: a toast to an american/german couple, Pete and Julia ("love in a time of war"?). Prost, to a better form of diplomacy!
I wanted to send you something more cheery this month, but as I write, the sky is black, although the moon is full. And the best news I can personally manage is that I have a new tooth, and next week I´ll be in Krakow opening my new exhibition.
As I´m currently in the process of reviewing my permit here, it seems appropriate to reflect on process and purpose...maybe more about that next time.
Take care,
Dean
