Hello Possums,
Spring has finally sprung, with buds bursting open as if by decree on the first official day of Spring (well, this IS Germany!)
Paying tribute: too many wonderful exhibitions seen recently to list, but among them: Salgado, Jean Loup Sieff, & Jan Saudek (who, perhaps uncharacteristically, has just done a big spread in a vanguard fashion mag: "Rebel"!), and looking forward to a major retrospective: "East" by a group of leading East German photographers (& noting that politics can´t keep its nose out of the selection of the artists!)
Thinking: Why do we photograph? A brief quote (from the author of "The Silence of the Lambs"): "Curiosity. All we can ever do is tickle one another´s curiosity, because there isn´t time to say much, and a lot of what we know to say may not be true." A bit tangential, but cheers to Andrew McKee & Richard Poole anyway.
Keeping up (?): Attitudes towards photography...? Seems to be very different here (I´ll try to explain that next time, too). Reading stuff about contemporary Moscow photography, talking to the locals in Germany, hoping to catch up with some Czech photographers in May, & maybe visit U Maleho Glena (Jazz bar) to give Katia her picture...
Working: watching, re-evaluating my own projects...and maybe my "Work" series is still evolving...but something is emerging.
