July 2000
Dear PMers,
Meanwhile, on the technical front... my recent purchase of a Russian made panoramic camera has become the beginning of a series of experiments in seeing. It´s completely mechanical which may be a plus point. I was advised to test the camera first in case of manufacturing faults ... and, it worked perfectly, so it should remain reliable. I´ve started using it for industrial landscapes... the theme of my next solo show, concentrating on the area near where I´m living. Today I saw some shots taken ten years ago, just after the GDR came to a grinding halt... it looked something like Grozny does now!...parts still do.
A couple of other cameras have also been added to my arsenal: a tiny Polaroid with prints no bigger than a 35mm format, and another Russian camera - the "famous" Lomo. And I´ve got my eye on a $50 plastic lensed medium format Holga. I´m not too sure what I´m going to do with these yet…but I´ve got a few ideas up my flak-jacket.
